4. Purchasing and payment
Placing an order
By completing a purchase, you make an offer to buy the product on these Terms. Your order is accepted when we send confirmation.
Prices
All prices are shown in British Pounds (GBP) and are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable. Where VAT applies, this will be shown separately on your receipt.
Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. We accept major credit and debit cards. For subscriptions, payment is taken automatically on the same date each month unless cancelled. Split payments are provided by Klarna, accessed via Thinkific Payments.
Failed payments
If a subscription payment fails, we will attempt to collect payment again within seven days. If payment cannot be collected, we may suspend or cancel your access.
Currency
International customers pay in GBP; your bank may apply currency conversion charges. These are not controlled by us.
5. Course access, delivery, and duration
Access
Once we receive full payment, you will be granted access to your purchased course via the Thinkific platform. You will receive login instructions by email.
Eligibility and age restriction
To purchase and access any SLX Academy online course, you must be 16 years of age or older at the time of purchase. By completing your purchase, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
This age restriction applies to all SLX Academy online courses, including SLX Combined, SLX Acrylic, and SLX Builder Gel & Gel Polish. It reflects the professional nature of the training, the requirements of our accrediting body (ABT), and the standard age at which UK insurance for nail services can be obtained.
If a course is purchased by or on behalf of a person under 16, SLX Academy reserves the right to cancel the enrolment and issue a refund at our discretion, subject to whether course content has been accessed.
Duration and "lifetime access"
Where we describe a course as offering "lifetime access", this means no fixed time limit on your access to the course content for the lifetime of the SLX course platform. It is not a guarantee of perpetual or indefinite access.
Your access continues for as long as SLX Enterprises Ltd operates the course platform on which the content is hosted, the course remains available in our catalogue, and your account remains in good standing.
If we retire a course, discontinue the course platform, or migrate to a replacement platform, existing purchasers will be given at least 90 days' written notice. Where reasonably possible we will provide the option to download course materials, or transfer your access to a replacement platform at no additional cost.
Reasonable business decisions to retire, replace, or restructure the course platform may result in your access ending, subject to the notice period and mitigation above. This clause does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Certificates
Where a course leads to an ABT-accredited certificate, you will receive the certificate upon completion of all required course modules and assessments.
ABT accreditation
SLX Academy courses are ABT (Associated Beauty Therapists) accredited. ABT is a UK-based professional accreditation body. Certificates issued on course completion are recognised for professional insurance purposes within the United Kingdom.
If you are purchasing from outside the United Kingdom, it is your responsibility to verify whether ABT accreditation is recognised by insurance providers, licensing authorities, or industry bodies in your country. Recognition varies by jurisdiction, and SLX Academy cannot guarantee that your certificate will meet the requirements for professional practice, insurance, or licensing outside the UK.
We recommend contacting your local nail industry body or insurance provider before purchasing to confirm that ABT-accredited training meets their requirements. SLX Academy will not issue refunds on the basis that ABT accreditation is not recognised in the buyer's country, once course content has been accessed.
Community access
Purchase of SLX Combined, SLX Builder Gel & Gel Polish, SLX Acrylic, or SLX Retreats includes a 90-day free trial of SLX Collective. If you wish to continue after the trial, you may convert to a paid membership.
6. Refund and cancellation policies
Refund Policy
Full refund available within 14 days of purchase if no course content has been accessed.
No refund available once course content has been accessed, regardless of how much has been accessed. This is because the course delivers all content in full at enrolment, and access itself constitutes delivery of the digital product.
By purchasing any SLX Academy course, you consent to immediate access to digital content and acknowledge that this waives your 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Access to course content is tracked via our learning platform. Any dispute regarding whether content has been accessed will be determined by these access records.
To request a refund, contact us at admin@slxacademy.com within the 14-day period.
Retreats
- Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of £500 is required at booking to secure your place.
- Balance: The remaining balance is refundable up to 60 days before the retreat start date. Between 30 and 60 days before the retreat, 50% of the balance (excluding deposit) is refundable. Within 30 days of the retreat, no refunds are available.
- Transfers: Your booking may be transferred to another person up to 14 days before the retreat, subject to a £150 administration fee and confirmation from us that the transferee meets any relevant requirements.
- Cancellation by SLX: If we cancel a retreat for reasons within our control, you will receive a full refund including deposit. If cancellation is due to force majeure (see Section 12), you will receive a credit valid for 24 months toward a future retreat.
SLX Collective and SLX Mentorship (recurring subscriptions)
You can cancel your subscription at any time by managing your account or contacting us at admin@slxacademy.com. Your subscription will continue until the end of the current billing period, after which no further payments will be taken and access will end.
We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months of subscription. You will retain access for the full billing period you have paid for.
Founding tier prices for SLX Collective are held for the lifetime of your uninterrupted membership. If you cancel and later rejoin, you will pay the then-current membership price.
In-person courses
- Bookings: In-person courses are booked in advance and paid in full at the time of booking.
- Cancellations: You may cancel and receive a full refund up to 21 days before the course date. Between 7 and 21 days before, 50% of the fee is refundable. Within 7 days of the course, no refund is available, but you may transfer your place to another person at no additional cost.
Salon services
Salon appointments are booked and managed via our booking partner Acuity Scheduling. Cancellation and rescheduling terms are shown at the time of booking and generally require at least 24 hours' notice for a full refund.

9. Nature of our services and disclaimers
Educational purpose
Our courses, community, and mentorship provide educational content and general professional guidance. We do not provide personalised medical, legal, financial, or regulatory advice.
No guarantee of outcomes
We share strategies, techniques, and approaches that have worked for Sarah and our community. We cannot and do not guarantee any particular income, career outcome, or business result. Your outcomes depend on many factors including your effort, skill, market, and circumstances.
Professional standards
Where our content relates to nail industry practice, you remain responsible for meeting the professional, licensing, insurance, and health and safety standards of your jurisdiction. ABT accreditation of a course does not automatically confer any professional certification in jurisdictions outside the UK.
Third-party services
Where we recommend or facilitate access to third-party services (course platform, community platform, booking system, etc.), we are not responsible for those third parties' service quality, availability, or terms.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law
Subject to the above, our total liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms, our products, or our services is limited to the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or loss of opportunity.
11. Complaints
If you have a complaint, please contact us at admin@slxacademy.com with details of the issue. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days.
12. Force majeure
We are not liable for failure or delay in performance due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, wildfires, pandemics, war, government action, strikes, or infrastructure failures. Where such events prevent us from delivering a service, we will provide reasonable alternative arrangements or credit.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes materially affect your rights (e.g. changes to refund policy or subscription terms), we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by email and provide an opportunity to cancel affected subscriptions without penalty. Continued use of our services after the change indicates acceptance.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable in your country of residence.
